About Me:
I currently live in Bristol. Apart from work and being a mum I recently started learning karate (I have previously done taekwondo and hapkido). I love photography and being outdoors. I also have a very slight addiction to buying trees for my garden.

I grew up in London and although I loved it there, I left soon after university and have since lived in many places around the world (Spain, France, Fiji, New Zealand, America and Finland). I first started learning Hapkido in Fiji as it was the martial arts taught to the Fijian army. I then joined a martial arts school in Miami and took up Taekwondo as well as Hapkido. It is a great activity to learn and I made some great friends. Although it sometimes hurts.
I took an open university course in photography and love seeing thing through a lens.
I spend a lot of time in my garden and love being outside (even in the rain). -

I worked for 10 years in Finland on the construction of the 3rd generation of EPR (a nuclear power plant). This was the first of its kind in the world. I first started as a supervisor for finishing works (looking after the concrete finishing, painting and steel installation). I had to ensure it was done on time and to the correct quality.
I then changed to be responsible for project managing the design, manufacture and installation of some steel structures and so other scopes such as hinged platforms.
I came to Bristol in March 2018 to work on the same type of nuclear power plant that is being built at Hinkley Point.

My Typical Day:
Working at home: I start work after my son has left for school at 08:30. I spend most the day in meetings, reviewing drawings, documents and writing e-mails. I finish work around 5pm.
Working on site: I leave home at 6:30 and cycle into town to catch a bus to site. I arrive at 8:30 and go to my desk. I work on the computer, visit the construction site and meet people in person. At 5pm I get bus back to Bristol and home by 7pm.

Working at home: It sometimes feels cut-off from people when working from home. Most of us do not use a camera on our computers, so we only hear voices in meetings and do not see each others faces. However it can be very productive when trying to review and write documents, design and solving issues. Approximately 75% of my time is in meetings.
Working on site: Working on-site is a long day due to the travel from home to the site. However I love being on construction sites. In Finland I lived very close to the construction site and was there ever work day. I like talking to the people, checking the quality (welding, painting, concrete) and also the opportunity to solve problems in a physical setting, not just on paper.
