Mine is the travelling I got to do before Covid. During my PhD, I got to travel to places like New Orleans (USA), Seattle (USA), and Kyoto (Japan) all for work 🙂
I’ve had loads of great experiences. I’ve been able to go to conferences, meet some great people and work with lots of different companies. But my favourite has to be seeing my first project, where I was leading, being run on site for the first time and seeing lots of happy operators.

I like going into areas during the construction that very few people will get to do (access is not allowed when the nuclear plant is running). For example the areas where nuclear reactions will take place, ducts which will be closed off or on the very top of the nuclear plant roof.
Getting to see so many things that I wouldn’t have seen in a different career! Nuclear decommissioning is all about doing things that no one has done before and it’s incredible to be able to be a part of that!
