About Me:
I’m an image analyst and medical artist.
I live in Manchester. I own a company called SRi Forensics based in Salford.
I recently took part in the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures and had a really great time presenting on forensics about the difference between recognition and identification.
This science is often referred to as facial mapping.

Although I work analysing faces for the police and the defence teams, I enjoy using special software to create realistic looking faces which can be used in gaming
I also enjoy traveling and taking photographs of wildlife. On a recent trip to East Africa, I found a whole tree full of sleeping fruit bats.. I didn’t disturb them…
I enjoy flying across the bush in hot air balloons, taking pictures of sunrises and any animals I find…

My Typical Day:
After waking and washing, I have a good breakfast, usually oats, granola and fruit juice.
Work starts at 10.00am until 4.30pm. The work is varied, but usually we have lotes of enquiries mainly from the police or the defence teams, to look at video of a crime and see if we can identify the features of the criminal against a suspect.
We have many cases on the go, so the bulk of the day is spent working on the cases using video and photography software, analysing the images and writing long reports to show our findings.

Often, the images I work with are not very pleasant to look at.
Sometimes I get distracted by the views outside the office or go for a walk on the canal basin or along the quays nearby…
I work on three large screens which helps with viewing the videos but if football is on, I may even sneakily watch a game!
It’s very important to balance work with relaxation, so I like to have a shorter work day as it gives me more time to spend with my wife and family.
