I have never been physically attacked in my job. However, I have been in situations where people are very stressed and they can get quite verbally loud and say some horrible things. Luckily, none of it has been directed to me.
Fortunately I have never been physically attacked in my job. There are sometimes situations when students and staff can be feeling under pressure and have been quite vocal about their feelings. Most of this is directed at processes rather than the individual.
Not physically, but we have had a number of incidences where people have threatened staff online and in letters. Some have even turned up at our places of work. This can be a little worrying, even though we are working for both sides of the legal system i.e. prosecution and defence, if someone is found guilty, they may want to blame someone.
I have never been physically attacked. But I was very surprised to learn, during the course of my medical research, that doctors and technicians desks are often placed in the centre of the room so that they have an escape route in a case a patient attacks them, which seems crazy to me.
As a PhD student and postgraduate demonstrator, absolutely not. Unfortunately, tempers are often frayed in the emergency department and I’ve had to be rescued a few times at the hospital when patients get aggressive 😓. One of the reasons I took up freestyle karate!
