About Me:
I’m a medical researcher and I work in Edinburgh in Scotland, but I live in a small town outside called Linlithgow with my husband and my golden retriever 🐶. I love to read, bake and hike. My work has enabled me to live overseas in both Sydney, Australia 🐨 and Houston, USA 🚀.

My Work:
I work on melanoma. This cancer arises from the cells in your skin which create pigment. My work focuses on understanding how melanoma is able to resist therapies.
-
My Typical Day:
I wake up, have breakfast and then walk my dog. I get into work around 9am and then go to the lab do experiments. Around noon I have lunch and then go to a seminar where people within my institute present their research. In the afternoon I go to check on my zebrafish, before heading back to work on the computer. I normally head home around 5.30pm.

Education:
I went to Wimbledon High School in London. Then I had a gap year before attending the University of Bath where I did an undergraduate Masters of Biochemistry. During my degree I got to do two sixth months placements, the first at the Institute of Healthy Ageing at UCL in London. Then the second at the Garvan Insitute of Medical Research in Sydney, Australia. Once I finished my undergraduate degree I decided I wanted to do a PhD and I moved to Australia to do a PhD in breast cancer research at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and UNSW. I finished my PhD in 2017.
