It’s fun most of the time, I love it because I’m always learning, and doing new and different things. However, like any profession or job there are times when it can be challenging mainly when experiments don’t work or you just have a few long days in a row. When it gets challenging I try to think of the bigger picture of why my work is important rather than get drawn down by the details.

Yes and no. Being able to understand the world of science and contribute to the fight against disease, climate change and other challenges wonderful. But there is frustration in terms of getting money for research and sometimes experiments do not work out as planned, which can be a little depressing.

I find it very fun and would not change with anything else! It’s super exciting to be contributing to new discoveries that potentially can change other people’s lives. It is certainly tough but very rewarding !

Yes! But it also comes with its challenges. In a way overcoming them is fun in itself and it’s very rewarding to have such a varied job 🙂

Yes! I love the fact that everyday is different, it is rewarding and challenging. You are always learning and applying different skills. There can be times when you are really busy and sometimes have to work later but it is a great feeling when you have accomplished something and can see the reward from your time and effort.

Yes, for the most part it is. You get to play a part in discovery, which is very exciting. There are frustrations of course, as sometimes progress can seem slow but the work is very important and could end up ultimately helping patients.

If you like to solve problems and make things progress forward, then being a scientist is huge fun. No two single days are the same, and you can be facing a different challenge every week.

Definitely! It is really exciting since every day you have the opportunity to learn and discover something new. At the same time, some days can be challenging (especially when experiments don’t work as they should!) but the most important thing is to learn from every mistake and every thought moment and think about the huge impact that our research can have on patients’ life.
