About Me:

I live in Liverpool – not too far from Anfield stadium. I often pass the stadium when I go for a run through Stanley Park. My young children keep me busy as I have to drop them at school and take them to various sports clubs. I love Radio 4 but turn to Smooth FM or Absolute Country when I need a change. My secondary school was in a remote Nigerian village – that is where I learnt to eat stir-fried termites.

My Work:

My work involves RNA – especially small RNAs. What do they do in cell? Can toxic RNAs be turned into anti-cancer drugs? What methods should be used to deliver the RNA into the cancer cells?
My Typical Day:

Cup of tea in the morning. Then a 20-45 minute run if I do not have a backlog of work left over from the previous day. Otherwise I sit in front of my lap top in the dining room addressing emails, reading some science or typing out my ideas. Quick scan through the BBC news and sports webpages to see what is happening in the world.
What I'd do with the prize money:

I would give the money to a university science student for them to organise a STEM event.

Primary and secondary school was in Nigeria

GCES, A levels (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
Work History:

Superdrug, Tesco, some shifts at a dry cleaners, some in a nightclub. Enjoyed a couple of temp jobs working for a removals company. After my PhD, worked as a postdoctoral researcher then became a lecturer.
