Entry requirments on UCAS will show what A-levels ( or equivalent) are needed. For instance, so universities requests ABB for Biochemistry, whereas my university will accept BCC. The important thing is to find the science the matters to you because a there are many degrees that can support entry into the cancer research – biochemistry, chemistry, medical physics even mathematics – come to mind.

This is a good question. You need to generally be good at science based subjects. There are many different courses you can study at University to get into cancer research (pharmacy, pharmacology, chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, and many more). For example, I studied Pharmacy at Manchester. Each University has different entry requirements that you can check out on their webpage. What would make you a strong competitor in this space, would be to have A levels in Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Physics (but you don’t have to have all of these).

Specific requirements for each university can be found on their website. For me, given that I went into science via medical school I can only speak about requirements for Medicine. Most UK medical schools require AAA but might have contextual requirements, some of the more competitive ones like Oxbridge required A*AA when I applied!
