      Great question! I always love heating metal salts in a flame because you get such brilliant colours! They look like mini fireworks 🙂

      One of the coolest reactions I’ve seen is what happens when you mix sugar with sulphuric acid. A small amount of sugar turns into a sticky, bubbling tower of black carbon that slowly rises out of the beaker. It’s terrifying to watch!

      One of my favourite reactions is called Elephants Toothpaste! It uses chemicals called Hydrogen Peroxide (some people use this to bleach their hair) and Potassium Iodide. If you also add washing-up liquid and food colouring the reaction produces lots of hot, colourful foam!
