No I passed my GCSEs, and then went on to do A-levels and a degree in a science subject. However, science definitely wasn’t my favourite subject at school!

Not in school. But as a scientist, plenty of times. Almost all my discoveries (at least 55 of them) are from failures which I turned into successes 🙂 I’ve always believed in working hard and that has lead to this great success

I didn’t at school, however, I do know people that I work with that struggled at school in science, probably didnt do as well as they hoped but were able to still get into science. Thats they really great thing about the different entry points that exist into science and it is amazing how much better things seem if you can suddenly apply it to something that you are interested and working in.

I was very close to failing chemistry in high school and the teacher was surprised to see that I didn’t fail. She was more surprised that I then pursued a career in the sciences.

No I passed all my science subjects at school or at university, but I did struggle with maths

I struggled with chemistry during A-Level, but it was motivation for me to try harder with it to understand. I didn’t achieve the grade that I needed to be able to study Medicine, but I know how hard I tried to achieve a good result.

Not at school, although I struggled with physics at GCSE and chemistry at A level. I wasn’t that great at maths, either – I’m still not!

Not in school, but in Univerity i did stragle with some modules, it is not a failure to fail the important is to be able to ask for help when you need it and be able to come back up

I did fail my plant biology module in the first year of my undergraduate degree, although as I got 36% it was deemed a compensatory pass, as I had passed all of my other modules. This was my first experience of “failure” in an academic sense, and it was a bit of a shock. I did struggle with that module, but because I didn’t enjoy it as much I didn’t work as hard on it as the other modules.

I did at university – I had to retake an exam in my first year. I’ve always struggled with exams and failed biochemistry.
