My Work:
I worked for 20 years as a Biomedical Scientist in a variety of haematology and transfusion laboratories. The role involved analysing blood samples, reporting on blood cell microscopy and matching blood donated to patient recipients who needed a blood transfusion.
My current role works with service managers for all imaging, pathology, healthcare science and endoscopy departments to understand how best to use existing funding to better staff departments and to find ways to work more efficiently for the NHS. -
My Typical Day:
A typical day involves meeting with various managers, specialists, directors and places of education – schools, colleges and universities to understand how money is being used to train the workforce and to understand what needs to be done to make things better and attract more people into diagnostic professions.
