My Work:
Clinical scientist in radiotherapy. Radiotherapy is a treatment for cancer that uses ionising radiation. As a clinical scientist i use my physics knowledge and training in order to make sure that we deliver safe and secure treatment to our patients

My Typical Day:
I am not a morning person so i wake up and get ready to go to work. I get to work at 9 am were I calculate and review patient treatments in order to make sure that patient will receive the best possible treatment. Then i have lunch with my friends usually in the cafeteria but when the weather is good in the gardens of the hospital and in the afternoon i perform check in the machines that deliver the treatment. Also some of the days a devoted to my Ph.D. and research projects.

What I'd do with the prize money:
i will spend them to arrange some visits from students to come and see my departments and learn more of what we do

Qualifications:
At 17 i gave my nationals exams in advance physics, maths, chemistry biology and Greek literature and i got accepted in Physics department at the University of Ioannina in Greece

Work History:
Through my studies i worked in my parents hotels , as a waiter, reception, room service pretty much in all the areas. After I acquired my B.SC. in physics I’ve done some tutoring. after I finished my M.Sc. in medical physics I got a training post in radiotherapy department in Greece. because i want to expand my horizons i applied and i got a job at Ipswich hospital as a clinical scientist in radiotherapy

Current Job:
urrently I am working as register clinical Scientist in Radiotherapy Department at Ipswich Hospital. As a clinical scientist I have the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible and the accurate delivery of all aspects of a patient’s treatment. My work requires analytical, problem solving and communication skills alongside keep abreast with the latest technological equipment and techniques. Also, I have the opportunity to communicate complex information in a way that can be understood by medical students and trainees.
