Chromosomal strength is a very difficult thing to measure, and can mean different things to different people.

The strongest chromosomes are the smallest… they are least likely to break. The mammal with the smallest chromosomes on average is the crab-eating rat (Ichthyomys pittieri) so I reckon it’s chromosomes are probably pretty tough.

But chickens, rats, and a bunch of other animals all have things called microchromosomes, that are probably tougher than normal chromosomes.

In terms of the chromosomes’ resistance to DNA damage… that all depends on the proteins that protect the DNA, which are stuck to the chromosomes… humans are one of the best at DNA protection.
