• Question: If your a vegetarian where do you get your protein from?

      All living things make and contain protein, so most of the protein comes from plants. The problem is that there are essential amino acids (building block of proteins) that we need in our diet that plants don’t have.

      Cereals contain methionine, which is an essential amino acid.
      Legumes contain lysine, which is an essential amino acid.

      So as long as a vegetarian gets some wheat/rice and some peas/beans, they should be fine.

      Lots of different places like from nuts and seeds and some dried fruits like dates and apricots. If we eat things like cereal too they have some molecules in it to make up proteins.
