• Question: can children give birth

      It has happened…

      So, firstly, boys cannot give birth… just so we’re clear!

      Secondly, if you know where babies come from then you know that this should not happen to children. In most countries in the world it’s illegal to make babies with a child (or try to).

      Finally, children aren’t normally developed enough to have babies… the womb, where the babies grow starts getting ready to grow babies from about age 10 to 14, but it will not be completely ready until nearly 20 years old. But some children develop very early, and even though they are not completely ready, it is possible for them to have a baby very young.

      This is an interesting question. Our bodies reach maturation much earlier than our minds.
      So, yes, some children at the age of 12-13 (this can vary a lot- in some countries 7 years old) can get pregnant and give birth. But this is very dangerous and can have devastating effects on the children’s lives.

      Yes they can – but usually this is very rare because when we are children we haven’t grown up enough and so our bodies aren’t prepared for giving birth. Boys can’t give birth because they don’t have a womb or a ‘uterus’. This means that girls are the ones that give birth, but the earliest they would be able to give birth is around 11-13 years old. This is because girls (and boys) go through a thing called ‘puberty’. It is a time where our bodies are changing, becoming more adult like and able to give birth. Of course, that doesn’t mean 11 year olds do! That is very uncommon. Even if our bodies were getting ready, as humans we aren’t prepared until we are a lot older to have children because lots of other things matter too. All of these other things need to be considered too.
