About Me:
Hi everyone, my name is Shelina Jilani!
I live in Yorkshire with my family :). I am a Facial Comparison Expert and an Expert Witness, this means I conduct comparative analysis between faces and, I attend Court to share my findings. In addition to my professional work, I lecture at a University in London on the module entitled, Digital Policing and Terrorism.
In my spare time, I work alongside a group of international tutors on a program called ‘Leaders of Tomorrow.’ The program is a unique, fully online curriculum which is delivered to young students living in the Maldives!
In my actual spare time, I enjoy travelling, going to the gym, watching crime documentaries (in between Emily in Paris and others alike ;), and spending time with my loved ones.

My Work:
I work at a Digital Forensic company, where I conduct morphological analysis between facial images. My work requires me to strictly follow an ACE-V process in order to classify Class, Sub-Class and soft biometric features.
-
My Typical Day:
My day starts at 5:40am, I drive to work and begin to work at 7am. (I know, I am an early riser :). I am mainly based in Leeds but depending on my requirement for court attendance, I travel nationwide including Scotland and Ireland. Once at work, I check my emails and plan my day, which includes a mixture of meetings, conducting analysis for on-going casework and conducting reviews for upcoming cases. I usually eat my breakfast around 8am and have my first cappuccino of the day.
To get a head start in my step-count, I try to schedule a short 30 minute walk while on lunch, which can be anytime between 12:30pm-1:30pm, (usually I eat my lunch by 1pm). After lunch, a little exercise and a catch up with colleagues, it’s time to get back to work. I leave the office by 3pm.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would use the Prize money to host a workshop for students to gain an insight into the world of facial image comparison, with a mock trial set-up and an opportunity for the students to be cross-examined similar to an Expert Witness.
