Question: What would happen if there was no gravity ?

Gravity is an invisible force that pulls things towards each other. It is the force that pulls us down towards Earth and stops us from floating away and the force that keeps all of the planets orbiting around the sun.

You might have seen videos of astronauts hopping around on the moon. That is because there is less gravity on the moon than on Earth, because the moon is smaller. The gravity on the moon is about 1/6th as powerful as the gravity on Earth!

If there was no gravity at all it would be catastrophic! The Earths atmosphere would disappear into space, so there would be no air for us to breath and the Earth itself could start to break apart, as it is gravity that is holding it all together!
