Question: what was the first animal on the world?

Scientists think the first animals to live on Earth were very simple sea creatures like sponges, which appeared about 600 million years ago (a long time before the dinosaurs!) There has been life on Earth for much longer though (around 4 billion years) but these were mostly single-celled creatures like bacteria.
