      That’s a surprisingly difficult question to answer, and scientists aren’t really sure! Dinosaurs evolved from an even older group of reptiles, but drawing the line between the last of those reptiles and the first dinosaur is really hard to do by just looking at fossils! One of the earliest dinosaurs that we’re definitely sure is a dinosaur is called Eoraptor, a small meat eating dinosaur that lived around 240 million years ago in South America.
