CO2, also known as carbon dioxide, is a gas. It’s the gas we make in our bodies and breathe out. CO2 is produced on a large scale by factories burning fossil fuels (like coal and oil) to produce energy. By burning fossil fuels we release a lot of CO2 into the atmosphere. Here CO2 traps heat and causes the Earth to warm up, which is called the greenhouse effect. It’s a major cause of climate change!
