Extreme psychological responses do happen to some people. Feeling overwhelmed can be emotionally exhausting and very distressing. Trauma, chronic pain, being bullied, caring for family members who are very ill or dying, being injured or assaulted – all of these might be some examples of extreme stressors (causes of stress).
it’s important that we are able to understand what people might be going through and to support their needs – which be can be mental health problems or physical health problems, or both. They can be different for each person, which makes it a bit tricky to completely answer the question.
That’s because each person’s response to a situation is different so it’s important that people feel able to speak about their stress to someone who they trust.
