That’s a question that made me think! I like it because without it, human cells would get the energy and nutrients that they need to stay alive and function well.
We need to be able to break down the food we eat to its smallest chemical units – the sugars, amino acids and fatty acids – and then absorb them into the bloodstream so they can get to cells. It’s the digestive system that does all of that for us – isn’t it clever?
The digestive system mashes and grinds all the foods with enzymes and special juices like acid and bile. Pretty amazing process when you stop to think about it. .after that it all gets taken to the liver to be processed – we all that assimilation – so that the blood’s levels of things like glucose don’t get too high or fall too low.
