I loved sport when I was a kid and in secondary school I started to think about doing a job related to sport. First I thought about studying to become a physiotherapist, but I also thought it would be really interesting to study physiology and sports science in more detail. I was particularly interested in the limits of human performance, for example how people manage to climb Everest or ski to the South Pole – and how our bodies can adapt to allow people to achieve these amazing feats. I guess I finally decided that I would like to be a sports scientist when I was around 16 or 17, when I decided to apply for university courses in Sports Science and Physiology.
