About the Sports Science Zone

Behind every athlete are the researchers who study how the human body works during exercise, explaining and improving their sporting performance to get the best results possible. In this zone, students will be able to put their questions to physiologists working on the science of sports, training, and nutrition, and see what it takes to push the limits of human performance.

You will meet one scientist researching new ways to keep Paralympic athletes cool whilst they play wheelchair rugby, one trying to stop athletes from becoming sick before big competitions, and a former Paralympic cyclist who now looks at how we the human body works and how we can help athletes to run, swim and cycle faster. Also answering your questions will be an elite Paralympic swimmer who won two golds at Rio 2016, an Olympic swimmer who was a finalist at Rio, and a canoeist training full time in order to compete in Tokyo 2020.
