I try to go horse-riding if I can, but if not I always try to get outdoors for some sort of activity, be it hillwalking or just out helping with horses. I sometimes do an exercise class on a Saturday morning, and some weekends I need to come to work to do some experiments as that’s when the people I need to test can come in, I need to run some analysis or I need to finish off some preparation for the next week.

Usually at the weekends I exercise, catch up with friends and some weekends I have to do work. I also check on the vegetables growing on our garden and do some baking when I get the chance.

It really varies! Lots of scientists work quite long hours but personally I try to work late in the evenings Mon-Fri if I need to but keep my weekends free.

I try to do some exercise most weekends, depending on where I am and what time of year it is that could be running, orienteering or skiing. Some weekends I travel to compete in orienteering races around Sweden and the UK (in spring and autumn mostly). I also visit my boyfriend, friends and family in the UK every few weeks. From time to time its nice to have a quiet weekend at ‘home’ in Östersund and then I’ll usually do some cooking/baking and other chores like doing my washing and tidying my flat!
