Getting a position as a Sport Scientist is competitive with many applicants applying for the same job. You need to have experience working with athletes if you want to work in sport, in addition to an undergraduate degree and often a Masters degree too. But in addition to being a sport scientist in applied sport there are lots of other options, working as a Researcher, working in healthcare, lecturing/teaching to name a few.
