Interesting question. This is where we get to show off. Anecdotes are referred to slightly differently in science, we tend to refer to the idea of, has your work been referenced. So we publish studies and the it is great when they are referenced, that is referred to by other scientists. For this yes I have had many citations of my work, both from research papers, but also from the book I write called “Coaching Science”.

Good question. As Dan as already mentioned, in Science we publish papers. When other Scientists write up their papers they will reference other papers in the same research area. So yes people have referenced my work in their own papers.

I’m not sure if I’ve understood your question properly, but I’m taking you’re asking if we have any funny stories from our work? I have heard a few funny stories, including making a mistake where someone I know had been putting about 150 reflective markers on a persons leg for some testing which took about an hour to do. Unfortunately, after they were all in place, the person then realised the markers were all on the wrong leg…..ooops. When I was doing my sport science degree, we used to do lots of different modules, including learning how to teach things like aerobics and weight training. It would appear as a group us sport scientists weren’t very coordinated and it often ended up looking like a lot of dad dancing, but it was very fun!
