Question: What made you interested in studying alcoholism and alcohol addiction?

Hi Ella,

I’ve always been interested in things that are really stigmatised in society. So alcohol addiction and mental health are my main interests. I also work in a mental health hospital and a lot of our patients have both mental health and alcohol use problems, so this made me even more interested. From working with these individuals and seeing my friends and family who drink socially, I thought it was really interesting how different our relationships are with alcohol so I wanted to look into that a bit more.

So here I am, now doing a PhD in the language of alcohol use and addiction!
