Question: Have you ever come across the Son Rise programme as an alternative to ABA?

I haven’t, I really like the philosophy behind it, but it is not supported by much research. Whenever a lot of people really like a therapy but it doesn’t have a tendency to work, I always suspect that it works for some specific group of people. One thing that researchers are trying to do in clinical psychology is to figure out what works for who. If we can figure out efficiently what sort of therapy is likely to help what kind of person, than we’ll be able to really address individual needs. Someday I hope to see most good clinical ideas put to work in specific situations, and I bet Son Rise will have a place, and I’d be really interested to see who it works for if anyone does find a pattern. But as it is, the most widely successful treatment is ABA and that’s what I see being used by most professional organizations.
