That’s a great question. I really can’t say that I have a definitive answer to that one – and perhaps it’s good that I don’t. I don’t think science can tell us everything – and I think that’s a good thing.
I will say that I think it’s really good that different people find different people attractive though. If we all found the same people attractive then that would cause a bit of a headache in population terms! We’d all be chasing the same “mates” – and they’d all be chasing the same “mates” too – and those that weren’t deemed to be “attractive” by anybody wouldn’t secure “mates” for themselves, wouldn’t have children, and would die out – and we’d be left with a very one-dimensional population where everybody looked the same!
