That’s an intriguing question that has made me think hard as well! If you’re passionate about knowing and understanding people, of different cultures and backgrounds, this in itself has driven me to take very opportunity to travel! So far, I’ve landed in jobs that will pay for my ‘business’ trips, or volunteer works which had taken me to new countries. And whenever I go somewhere for ‘work’, I make sure I stay extra days so that I can explore the country a bit (at least 1 week). Then, there’s festive seasons like x’mas/Easter, or the summer where I don’t need to teach – I just pack my bag and off I go!
Hope you have, or will develop the passion, for getting to meet people of different cultures and backgrounds, because these are incredibly humbling experiences – you get to appreciate what makes other people happy or sad. Of course, money is important when it comes to travelling… So whenever I can, I’ll find the cheapest accommodation/flight tickets.
