Cancer refers to any one of a large number of diseases characterized by the development of abnormal cells that divide uncontrollably and have the ability to infiltrate and destroy normal body tissue. Cancer often has the ability to spread throughout your body. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/cancer/symptoms-causes/syc-20370588

This is a difficult question to answer – because cancer is not one disease but many.
      .
I’m not an oncologist — and if you have any concerns – please see a doctor. And this could be a question for scientists in one of the other zones.

The instruments I make are usually detecting a fluorophore (a marker) that shows where a specific protein is located in a cell – and the other proteins that is interacting with. You can see with a microscope where this is happening, and how far apart the proteins are.
      .
Other instruments are involved in a delivering radiation to cancerous cells and tissue to see how they respond to the treatment and discovering how that works.

Both these instruments can be combined into one.
You can also measure the changes
