All planets in the Solar System are about the same age — they were born very slightly after the Sun. They all formed about 4.6 billion years ago.

This is because very young stars are born in huge clouds of gas and dust. All the stuff starts spinning around the young stars and forms planets, asteroids, and other things we see in the Solar system. It happened ages ago for us, but astronomers are studying some faraway systems where the star and the planets are just being born!
