Although it is definitely not necessary to be amazing at english, it’s really important to be able to understand a problem which will almost always be given using words. It’s also really important to be able to communicate your answer otherwise no one will know how clever you are!

A lot of science is done in English, but you can learn this – lots of people I know learned to get much better at English when they started university. You can learn about science in any language, and a lot of education and business that uses mechanics and physics will be done in the local language.

Yes, trying to explain your work to other people often requires you to use words unfortunately. I try to use as many pictures as possible, but I have needed to learn a lot of English!
