That’s a common scenario in some good science fiction books. The sad truth is that there are no exoplanets nearby, and getting to the nearest one would entail a long trip, over many generations. It takes four months to reach Mars, and scientists have been testing the impact of 4 months of living together in a very small place with no ways of escaping on the human psyche, and the results were not that encouraging. So imagine a trip that would take several hundreds of years….
Truth is we are tiny specks of dust in a huge universe, and are very far away from each other if life occurs elsewhere. But we can still dream!
