Humans have not evolved from apes, that’s a misconception. They share a common ancestor. Regarding evidence, there is sufficient evidence to convince anyone with an open mind and who is open to challenge his or her own religious beliefs. In contrast to Religion, Science is not about certainties or the absolute truths. It is about collecting evidence in support of your claims, something which I wished religious people would do to substantiate their views?. Having said this, some scientists manage to combine religion and science into their personal world view, so maybe worth exploring what they have to say? You’ll find plenty of books about science and religion if you are really interested in a serious debate.

@Franco, i like your answer, but let me add that Christianity have collected a lot of evidence to support what they preach, which is creation. @shunnty onion, try to read some religious books so you understand more on the subject. Your parents can guild you.

@Shunnty onion, I think what you are asking is what leads us to think that evolution has occurred rather than another process leading to humans existing in the form that we do? That’s a really interesting question and one that is at the heart of what science is; the scientific approach aims to test ideas, such as ‘humans developing through a process of evolution’, by looking for evidence that agrees with or disagrees with the initial idea. Part of that process is to keep your mind open to the idea that it can be correct, but might also be incorrect, and gather information to try to prove it one way or another. In the case of evolution, there is a large amount of evidence, including a long chain of fossils and genetic information indicating how one species is relates to another, as well as observations that plants animals and humans change over time in response to their environment, suggesting that evolution has occured. This evidence all suggests that humans did indeed develop via a process of evolution. For me, there doesn’t seem to be much evidence for an alternative process.

Hi Shunty
The genetic difference between us and the apes is very small, which tells us that we are genetically closely related but the others are right that we did not descend from the apes that are alive today. There is fossil evidence of earlier humans that have more ape-like morphological characteristics

Hi shunnty onion,
When Darwin propose the idea of evolution over a hundred of years ago, many people were fuuuuuuuurious!! (and yes with Franco, human share a common ancestor with ape, not really evolve from ape). So so so, back to Darwin, he did collect lots of evidence in his time to show that evolution did happen but then there are still some gap – intermediate type that we expect to find but we had not..hence suspicion remains …. but then as we fast forward a bit to our present time, those intermediate types have been found and also more and more fossil showing the change in forms of life, and modern laboratory techniques too support the idea.THat’s one of the cool things about science I think – one can guess, one can purpose, and whether the idea will stand the test of time (and people disagreement) depends much on the evidences that we can find to support and proof the idea (and likewise, the evidence that other people can find to disproof the idea!)… in this case, I think there has been enough evidence to say that that is the case (unless in the future it’s proven wrong of course!)
