• Question: why have a ground?

      Well the ground is basically the surface of the Earth, so if there was no ground that would mean there was no Earth.

      It is Earth’s gravity field that holds everything on it onto the Earth (and stops us from flying off into space) so without the Earth we wouldn’t be here.
