Good question – I had to look this one up!

Apparently bricks are usually made up mostly of sand and clay with a few other ingredients. The clay and sand are mixed with water, put into a mould (so that they make brick shapes) and they are then fired (basically burned!) at nearly 1000 degrees C

There are other types of bricks as well which one of the other scientists may know more about.

Great answer, Emma. From the top of my head I would have said some kind of rick, which is effectively what sand and clay is – really finely ground rock.
