I work with samples from hospital patients such as blood or bone marrow. We extract DNA from them and then use it to run different tests. Sometimes we use microscopes and sometimes we use special kind of equipment to check for changes in the DNA that could explain why the patient is unwell.

I work with ideas! Scientists and doctors tell me about the work they do in their laboratories and I turn that into stories to help people understand how important this work is. Sometimes, writers and artists come to me with their ideas for stories and pictures, and when that happens, I help them to understand how science fits into those ideas and how they can make them more realistic without losing any of the fun!
