      Nobody knows for sure! It’s believed that there are about 4,200 different religions in the world. Some of these religions believe in one god and some believe in many. I have seen an estimate that, throughout history, people have believed in somewhere between 8,000 and 12,000 gods – but that’s just one estimate. If you’d like to know more about the science of religion, a sociologist (someone who studies society and cultures) or an anthropologist (someone who studies the history of people) would be able to help you.
