Loads of mud, fish, weird squid, undersea volcanoes, enormous canyons so big you could lose Mt Everest in them, whale skeletons being eaten by bone-eating snot flower worms, lakes of water even saltier than the sea, potentially the origins of life – and pollution. We’ve found plastic bags, a fanta can and a tin of spam about 10km down, which is incredibly depressing. If you can, watch last night’s episode of Blue Planet II and see some of these wonders for yourself.

To add to Oli’s fantastic answer… Also literally tons of optical fibres! They’re called the “transatlantic communications cable”, and they bring you your internet data from all across the world. Whenever you’re using the internet, lots of your data will travel across these cables. They are massive, and extend from London to New York. They’re a fantastic achievement :)!
