      Chemicals! Glow sticks are a tube full of a chemical, containing a second (thin and snappable) tube of a second chemical. When you crack the glow stick you break the inner tube, and the chemicals start to react, producing light. There’s some more detail in this video https://youtu.be/uJgNTeBWhDk 🙂
