Titanium has two very important properties: (1) Our body does not use titanium in any biological processes, and it is not toxic to our body. (2) Titanium does not corrode when it is in contact with our bodily fluids. These two properties make it very safe for use in medical devices, prosthetics and even dentistry.

Titanium is a fantastic example of the use of metals for medicine! It is biocompatible and very useful for prosthetics.

It is one of the toughest metals out there, does not rust when implanted and is comparatively light. That just makes it idea for medicine.

Titanium is used in loads of different things. For example, we have them in tablets that patients take. Also, some sunscreens contain titanium dioxide.

I think it’s because it’s very strong for it’s weight/mass so not too heavy as an implant. Also it won’t rust like iron.

I think it’s mostly because human body can tolerate titanium in a large dose not being toxic, and due to its properties, it’s used for prosthetics and dentistry as well!
