Welcome to the Molecule Zone!

This is the Molecule Zone, part of I’m a Scientist, Get me out of here.

Here, school students can connect with scientists working in chemistry in March 2021.

I’m a Scientist is an online science enrichment activity, where students can:

  • Ask scientists questions
  • Chat with them in energetic live chats
  • Vote for their favourite to win a £500 prize

Students can take part from home. It’s safe, secure, easy and flexible.

The Molecule Zone is funded by ScotCHEM and the Royal Society of Chemistry.

A molecule is the smallest amount of a chemical compound that can exist. They are made up of atoms that are bonded together in a particular form. The image shows a diagram of a glucose (sugar) molecule (it’s not a real picture of a molecule). Glucose contains 6 Carbon atoms (coloured blue), 6 Oxygen atoms (red), and 12 Hydrogen atoms (white).
