I decided that I wanted to do Chemistry as school, then that led me to decide I wanted to go to University & so it was more of a progression. I think teachers are a big influence and they were on me.

Chemistry was my favourite subject from GCSE but even during my degree I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted to be a chemist. A science degree opens many career paths for you. I think I was 22 when I finally made the decision that science was the right career for me.

I have been interested in science since I was very young and I think I always wanted to be a scientist. But I also had times when I wanted to do other things, at one point I wanted to open a shop or be a teacher and I am still open to changing my career in the future.

I guess that would be in my early to mid teens when I decided to follow on from school science and do a degree in a science subject at university.

I always liked science, but I was also interested in other subjects, and I wasn’t too sure what I would like to do in the future/as my job. In high school, my enthusiasm for chemistry grew, and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to go with it and study chemistry at uni. It was a bit into my degree, when I saw different branches/applications of chemistry and people doing research both in academia and industry, that I decided that I would like to work in chemistry/in a lab too! I must have been around 21 then 🙂
