I think that is up to us at this point. If we manage to protect our environment, deal with pandemics and not blow ourselves up, we could be around for a very, very long time. Big IF though.
That’s a difficult question to answer. Our species may evolve provided that we don’t destroy ourselves as a consequences of global warning in the next few decades. In the longer term, if we survive that, the Earth itself will be destroyed in a couple of billion years when the Sun become a red giant star and expands. In expanding, it will likely destroy the inner rocky planets.
Great question- we are on the brink of change. If we continue treating the environment the way we do, global warming and flooding will make many people homeless. Also these changes will drive superinfections and pandemics. Our current life could become a continued reality.
Very hard (but good) question. Currently we use up too many resources (materials, energy, etc.) and make too much waste (rubbish, pollution, etc.) to stay around for long. If nothing changes in the way we make things, then by the end of this century we will need around 2 to 3 Earths for all the people – unfortunately not possible! If we manage to be better at making food, medicine, and everything else we need then we can stay around much longer.
Rough calculations have been made about it, but it really depends on us. We will never know if a meteorite will destroy Earth at some point or it will be us not taking care about the planet and destroying it.
