A lot depends on the company you work for & the support network you have. A lot of companies will be very supportive enabling people to balance their home & work life.

I do have a little 1 year old boy and I think I have learnt to do things differently. I do not think he gets in the way, but it is true that there are hard days. I am very lucky to have a supportive husband and a job where I can have some flexibility with the time I work

No… I don’t have kids… But if I did I would try and make time in my day for them. Being an academic helps in some respects with that as I decide what I do with my own time to a large extent.

I have a 2 and a 4 year old. They get in the way sometimes, but sometimes taking a break also really helps. We do a lot of experiments at home though, and I have always answered every single “why” question they have asked, even if it took hours.
