We shouldn’t do anything dangerous – our lives and health are more important than experiments so we are always very careful. But sometimes chemicals we have to use can be very dangerous. One is hydrofluoric acid, which is very corrosive and toxic so we have to be extra careful.
Also, I have been in labs with radioactive materials which are heavily protected to make them safe. All this care makes what we do very safe
Completely agree with Alex – there may be some experiments that involve potentially dangerous materials, but we work hard with our health and safety team to set up the lab and experiment in such a way that any danger to ourselves and colleagues is reduced.
Alex and Anisha are absolutely right: we always try to keep everything as safe as possible! In my line of work (psychology & hearing), the risks are fairly low, but we still try very hard to make sure everyone is kept safe: we make sure that any sounds we play are at a comfortable level to listen to, and that participants in our experiments have breaks to rest and are happy with what they’re doing 🙂
