• Question: You seen really girly (Bags and shoes!) Do you find that gets in the way of your career?

      I love bags and I love shoes!!!

      It doesn’t get in the way of my current job at all! As I don’t work in a lab any more, I get to wear heels and dresses to work. I wear a lot of suits too when I go visit important doctors and scientists.

      But I did used to work in a proper science lab and there you are a bit restricted – flat shoes and no flipflops!

      The other thing is that labs sometimes tend to be man-heavy… Sometimes as a girlie girl you can feel out of place but that’s only some labs. Most of the time everyone’s lovely. I used to go for coffee every day in the hospital with my girlie lab friends to get away from all the boys in the lab!
