• Question: Is there a chance that a cancer or diabetes cure will be made any time soon?

      Hi kathryn, thanks for your question! There is a really good chance that both could be cured in the near future. In diabetes, scientists are working on ways to replace the cells that are missing in the pancreas that produce insulin. By having a transplant of these cells, it would stop the need for people with diabetes having to have insulin injections every day.
      As for cancer, it’s a bit more complicated as there are lots of different types of cancer, and some are more easy to treat and cure than others. Lots of progress have already been made on this and there are lots of great treatments for cancers and some of them are “cureable”. Lots of work needs to be done still on this field though and that is why we need people like you to become scientists in the future so that cures can hopefully be found for lots of diseases!
